I invited Wang Yan, a beautician friend from Hainan Island to my house for dinner yesterday. She shared with me and my wife the importance of brushing our hair… with a wide toothed comb.
She said brushing our hair should be our number one hair routine daily. We will keep our scalp healthy and our hair happy by brushing our hair with a good comb.
She commented that our scalp produces oils and by brushing our hair regularly, we will spread and keep these oils evenly through our hair. This will protect the hair all the way to the ends … keeping our hair radiantly black with little white ones. Each gentle brushing stroke also helps to massage your scalp and stimulates blood flow to the scalp.
The only time we will damage our hair whilst brushing is when we do it while the hair is wet. The hair becomes weaker and elastic and is more prone to breakage and “snapping” causing split ends.
Please remember NOT TO BRUSH OUR HAIR WHEN IT IS WET, otherwise BRUSHING is one of the best thing we can do for our hair!
How to brush… start from the bottom and work our way to the end of our hair.
She jokingly remarked that we do 100 times each brushing routine.
