No Wisdom Without Obedience

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

使 智 慧 人 聽 見 、 增 長 學 問 、 使 聰 明 人 得 著 智 謀 、

In the Internet world today, knowledge is plentiful, but wisdom is scarce. Wisdom means far more than simply knowing a lot. It is a basic attitude that affects every aspect of life. The first step to wisdom is to “fear the Lord”, to honor and respect God, to live in awe of his power. Faith in God should be the foundation for your understanding of the world, your attitudes, and your actions. Trust in God and he will make you truly wise.

Charles H. Spurgeon once said:

Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. To know is not to be wise. Many men know a great deal, and are all the greater fools for it. There is no fool so great a fool as a knowing fool. But to know how to use knowledge is to have wisdom.”

Now, when I know and understand I will heed wise counsels. Heed means to listen and listen hard, and heed implies that I the hearer, if I am really heeding, will be obeying. Obedience to God’s word is essential to wisdom. There is no wisdom without obedience.

Bible verse: Proverbs 1:5
