Whenever Karen, a 6 years old child, was asked her name, her standard response was “I’m Karen, Pastor Tan’s daughter.”
Thinking she needed to assert her own identity, Karen’s mother encouraged her to simply reply “Karen.”
The next day, a man asked her name. “I’m Karen,” she replied.
“Oh, you’re Pastor Tan’s daughter,” he said, smiling.
“Well, Dad says so,” said Karen, “but Mom’s not real sure.”
