[3] The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

又劝老年妇人举止行动要恭敬， 不说馋言， 不给酒作奴仆， 用善道教训人，

[4] That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

好指教少年妇人， 爱丈夫， 爱儿女，

[5] To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

谨守贞洁， 料理家务， 待人有恩， 顺服自己的丈夫， 免得神的道理被毁谤。

Titus 2:3-5

Verse [3] explains that older women are to exhibit behaviour fitting for those who are holy, not slandering, not slaves to excessive drinking (do not be a drunkard), but teaching what is good.

In this way, according to Verses [4] and [5], they will train the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be self-controlled, pure, fulfilling their duties at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the message of God may not be discredited.

Paul was giving Titus counsel on how to help various types of people in ancient churches. The older people should teach the younger, by words and by example. Women who were new Christians were to learn how to have harmony in the home by watching older women who had been Christians for some time.

Today, women have this same need. Younger wives and mothers should learn to live in a Christian manner – loving their husbands and caring for their children – through observing exemplary women of God. If you are of an age or position where people look up to you, can you be confident that your example is motivating younger believers to live in a way that honors God?

Proverbs 31:10-31 also says a lot about women. From these verses, a godly woman has many outstanding abilities – strong character, great wisdom, many skills and great compassion. Her family’s social position is high. In fact, she may not be one woman at all – she may be a composite portrait of an ideal womanhood. Do not see her as a model to imitate in every detail; your days are not long enough to do everything she does! See her instead as an inspiration to be all you can be. We cannot be just like her, but we can learn from her industry, integrity and resourcefulness.

[10] Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.

才德的妇人谁能得着呢？ 她的价值远胜过珍珠。

[30] Favour (charm) is deceitful, and beauty is vain (fleeting): but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

艳丽是虚假的， 美容是虚浮的， 惟敬畏耶和华的妇女， 必得称赞。

Proverbs 31:10, 30

Indeed, a woman’s attractiveness comes entirely from her character, attitude and spirit. Her strength and dignity are a result of her reverence for God.

In 1 Peter 3:1-7, Peter also instructed Christian wives to develop inner beauty rather than being overly concerned about their appearance. Their husbands would be won over by their love rather than by their looks. The value of a wife of noble character is priceless. Live your Christian faith quietly and consistently in your home, and your family will see Christ in you.

Women of today are no different from women of ancient days – continuing to be transformed in their inner person and be transparent in their outer person. In doing so, others will see Christ in them!
